Crankshaft position sensor (NE sensor) is used monitor the position or rotation speed of the crankshaft. Camshaft position sensor (G sensor) is used to monitor the relationship between the pistons and valves.
The NE signal combined with the G signal indicate the cylinder that are on compression and the ECM can determine from its programming the engine firing order. |
